Scheduled Maintenance?

So, here I am, it’s almost 2 in the morning and i’m paying bills and generally checking out my finances. What do I find? Three of the sites I need to visit tonight are down for “Scheduled Maintenance”. T-Mobile couldn’t show me my bill details, WaMu won’t even let me login and Discover’s web site is just plain not responding. What happened to the concept of rolling upgrades? Why can’t these companies allow me continuous uninterrupted access to their sites while they perform their maintenance? I recently blasted Endicia (Stamps.com competitor on mac) on this issue. I had been a stamps.com customer for many years with little to no outages or problems. A little after a week of using Endicia’s service, I get an email that I will be unable to print any postage during a small 2-3 hour window on the weekend. So what if i’m sleeping during that time (I wasn’t) or if I have no postage printing needs at that time (I might have). It’s the principle!! Listen people, keep your damn systems up. Especially if you’re a credit card, bank, or pay service. If my free hotmail is unavailable for a day, I have little ground to complain. When I’m paying $14.95 (+postage) for your service, keep it up and running for me.

UPDATE
Discover’s site responded! With this:

And here is WaMu’s friendly notice… (bastards)

Blogging. I originally stated that I would like to “document the process” or something stupid like that, but I would rather just put good quality content up here and ignore the fact that, yes, this is a blog, yes it was easy to set up, and yes its going to make money. Well, we can hope for that last part to someday happen, right? So, faithful “reader”, this is the last blogging category post, unless I really REALLY have something to say about the blogging industry itself.

Whats next?

Before I get lost in CSS world again, I want to outline where I need to go from here. There are a few things I want to do with this site, in no particular order.

  • Fix the text, I hate how its “center justified” or whatever, I want it to look like real text.
  • Change the font to something a bit larger and more readable
  • Add a plug-in that allows me to add pictures to each post
  • Add links and pics to popular feed readers
  • Add ability to post from email
